It’s one of our FAVORITE times of the year here at Song of the Heart Studios. It is the time we say Hello to all you Heart-ies! We welcome back our returning families and are so thrilled to meet new families. We have missed all those shining eyes and magical moments and are ready to get back into gear teaching you and your little ones.
In order to give your children the best experience possible, we invite you to keep a few things in mind to ease the transition into studio attendance if it’s your first time with us, or if you are returning after a few weeks off.
1. Be Patient.
New spaces and new faces can be intimidating for children. Your child may take several weeks to warm up and feel comfortable in class. So if you see behaviors in your child that are challenging, don’t lose heart. They are working really hard learning how to be in a new class!
2. Participate and be present.
We are all about fostering connection between you and your child. So whether you spend the entire class together or you come in at the end for sharing time, please be fully present with your child. This is your time to forget the world and focus on your child and watch their growth and development. Your participation enhances their experience and brings more benefits than if you’re distracted or disengaged.
3. There is no wrong way.
We believing in meeting your child where they are and helping them engage and learn in the way that makes the most sense for them. Their regulation state and developmental level may mean that your child is more rambunctious than others. Or perhaps they are more withdrawn and prefer to just observe. We love to see you encouraging your child to participate, but always follow their lead and don’t force anything. Observing is learning and movers gotta move. Don’t worry that your child isn’t doing things the “right way” because there is no right way. There is only their way and that is just fine.
With those tips in mind we know you and your child will have a wonderful year with us filled with joy, connection, family, growth, and heart. Sing with you soon!
